Dr. Jani Ursin Visiting CWE@USF


The Career and Workforce Education faculty in the Department of Adult, Career and Higher Education at USF welcome back Dr. Jani Ursin, Senior Researcher at the Finnish Institute for Educational Research (FIER), University of Jyväskylä in Finland.

Dr. Ursin visited in 2011 to explore shared interests and potential collaboration with CWE@USF faculty and is returning a Visiting Scholar in 2013. Funded by a University of Jyväskylä grant to foster international collaborative research, Dr. Ursin will be working with CWE faculty in the spring semester. Specifically, the purpose of his visit is to conceptualize a joint study on Learning outcomes as defined in Finnish and American undergraduate studies programs. Preliminary data collection is also anticipated during his visit.

Dr. Ursin's research is concerned with the assessment of student performance and is one of the lead researchers contributing to the project Assessment of Higher Education Learning Outcomes (AHELO), sponsored by Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD). The project AHELO is a direct evaluation of student performance in 15 countries and will provide data on the relevance and quality of teaching and learning in higher education.
