Bill Blank Retired after 34 years of outstanding service at USF

Dr. Ray Hill and Bill Blank
On June 13, 2010, the Department of Adult, Career and Workforce Education celebrated the retirement of Dr. Bill Blank after 34 years of outstanding service at the University of South Florida. The celebration took place at the Tampa Palms Community Center as an open house for colleagues and friends to stop by and be part of the celebration. Dr. Ray Hill, a former professor in the program who was instrumental in recruiting Dr. Blank to USF, was in attendance with his wife and reminisced about the good old days of the program.

After hors d'oeuvres, greeting friends, and sharing memories of a longstanding career at USF, Victor Hernandez took the floor to recap Dr. Blank's journey and accomplishments. On behalf of the ACHE Department, Dr. Janet Scaglione, who also retired in 2010, presented him a plaque signed by colleagues and friends as a token of our collective appreciation for his contributions to career and technical education in the state of Florida. The significance of his contributions is remarkable, especially in program development in higher education, and Victor Hernandez also presented him with a marble top reading "Mr. CTE" on behalf of the department, symbolizing his status in the field.

Colleagues and friends enjoyed visiting with Dr. Blank and were delighted to have the opportunity to be part of the celebration to honor his retirement. We congratulate him for a distinguished career at USF and we are proud for having been part of his journey. For pictures of the get together view slideshow here.
