Hernandez Presented at the 44th Annual FACTE Conference

Dr. Victor Hernandez and CWE@USF doctoral students presented at the 44th Annual Conference of the Florida Association for Career and Technical Education (FACTE), on August 5, 2010, in Clearwater, FL.

He participated with presentations with Tina Leslie, Christina Smith, Daniel Cox, and Kristin Bowles-Pierce. The presentation with Leslie and Smith was was concerned with the prospects of teaching career and technical education online. In this presentation a state-wide e-Learning model was discussed in comparison to district- and teacher-led initiatives for online course offerings in career and technical education. In turn, the presentation with Cox and Bowles-Pierce highlighted important issues regarding program planning and implementation using career academy development initiatives in Volusia County as context. Finally, the presentation with Daniel Cox addressed global trends in workforce education and the implications for developing systems connecting education and industry partners in the context of the local economic realities.
